Two parts, one starting point
Original Medicare includes Part A, hospital insurance, and Part B, medical insurance. Part A helps cover inpatient hospital care and certain other services. Part B helps cover doctor visits, outpatient care, medical equipment, and many preventive services.
Where Part C fits
Medicare Advantage, also called Part C, is another way to receive your Medicare benefits through a private plan. These plans provide Part A and Part B benefits and usually include Part D drug coverage. Their provider networks and costs can differ from Original Medicare.
Start with the coverage you have
Understanding the parts is a first step. Before making a change, review how your current coverage works and the rules for the option you are considering. General education cannot determine which coverage is suitable for you.
This guide is general education. Your own coverage decisions call for a review of your needs, eligibility, and available options.
